The Clemson Tigers football team started out in the early 1900s as Clemson University worked to develop an athletic program. Now well-established, the Clemson Tigers have strong rivalries in the Atlantic Coast Conference with teams like the Boston College Eagles and the Duke Blue Devils.
With such a common mascot, the Clemson Tigers needs to find their way to make him unique from the others. Therefore, the mascot is nicknamed Little Tiger and the Clemson pep band honors Little Tiger by playing the Tiger Rag at home games. School colors are orange and purple: bright, clashing colors that capture the intensity of home games at Frank Howard Field in Memorial Stadium. Memorial Stadium hosts 80,000 spectators and is one of the toughest venues in the ACC because of its sheer size and noise volume.
